Post World War One
Trench warfare began to flourish during the American Civil War and spread even more in the First World War. During World War One, Trench warfare was the most commonly used tactics, and was the reason for the great number of casualties. The end of World War One brought the end of trench warfare. Both sides of the war lost many men due to this style of fighting. As the world moved on after World War One, things changed in the military fields. The Armies could not afford to go to long wars and loose thousands of men so they sought out an answer. They wanted something that would be fast, powerful, and surprising. The Germans were the first to figure this out. They decided to make turn to technology and it paid off. Technology was beginning to grow after the war and Germans developed tanks, artillery and air forces for wars to come. This new style of fighting was called "Blitzkrieg", and it changed the way war was fought for good. There were no more trenches, instead there was fast moving machines that could destroy armies in the blink of an eye.
